Women of Wisdom

Women of Wisdom is a philanthropic group of 14 women who decided to pool their resources to help improve the towns in which they live. In 2007, they decided to open a store to help them in their mission to support families in need. Together with the help of Hospice Volunteer Services of Addison County, they formed a 501(c)3 resale shop to aid the funding stream. The store, Sweet Charity, is the result of this venture, selling previously owned household items of good quality including (but not limited to) artwork, jewelry, kitchenware, furniture, books, trinkets, and seasonal items. If you are downsizing or redecorating, we’d love to hear from you and would gladly accept your tax deductable donations. We are always in need of pre-loved items that we can sell in our store. Please contact Sweet Charity to arrange for a pick-up of items you would like to donate. The WOW mobile will come straight to you!

Mission Statement

We are a task driven, project oriented, non-partisan group of women bound by lifetime friendships with a variety of political, ideological, religious, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds whose mission is to support each other within the group and to do good works of service within the areas of the arts, education, health, social services, women’s issues, and the environment within our community of the 5 towns of Addison, Ferrisburgh, Panton, Vergennes and Waltham along with those concerns that reach across our physical boundaries and impact our communities.

Caring Globally

WOW  periodically organizes lectures called Caring Globally. These  programs are given by women of the community who have given their time and effort to people in need outside the U.S.  Women of Wisdom invites you to our next presentation and to learn about the past lectures.

WOWSERs

A new sub-group of Women of Wisdom,  called WOWSERs, started in April 2010. This is a funding stream for emergencies and needs that cannot wait until quarterly grants are completed. If you are interested in becoming a WOWSER. please contact us at info@sweetcharityvt.com.
